"Vintage Notions," a three-year labor of love for Barickman, is filled with creative ideas, practical advice, vintage fabrics and samples of authentic handiwork, with illustrations of fashion and dress, that celebrate the rich heritage of Mary Brooks Picken and The Women's Institute circa 1930’s. Through stories of success, triumphs over adversity and connecting with the personal journeys of the women that came before us, "Vintage Notions" will inspire you to find personal creative fulfillment, independence and self-esteem through your creative work. This lecture will focus on tracing Amy’s journey researching the historical life of Mary Brooks Picken, will include selections of vintage memorabilia from The Women’s Institute, samples of vintage textiles and handiwork from Amy’s extensive personal collections and samples of fashions created from the patterns featured in the book.
